Corporation gig – press release

Band Bags Big Gig

Local band supports American touring band at Sheffield’s Corporation.

Local melodic metal band Aonia (Retford/Worksop/Doncaster based) have been confirmed to support the American hard rock band Warrior Soul on the Sheffield leg of their international tour-7/10/12 at 7:00pm.

Warrior Soul have been playing together off and on since 1987 and have garnered praise from all corners of the rock and metal world – most notably from Lars Ulrich of Metallica, who cites the band’s album “The Space Age Playboys” as his favourite album.

Locals Aonia are known for their operatic vocals juxtaposed with heavy, driving guitars and fantasy-esque lyrics.

Front woman Mel is drawing national acclaim for her theatrical interpretations of different personas in Aonia’s songs. She has also successfully completed Round 1 of BBC’s ‘The Voice’ and is awaiting notification from the panel to see if she has been successful to pass on to round 3. Mel is excited to play with Warrior Soul because “they’re a band who are so well established and so dedicated to metal.”

Tony Gaskell (drummer) is known for his innovative drum beats and metronome-like internal chronometer is particularly excited about the upcoming gig. “The Corp is a great venue that has featured many amazing bands and it is a fantastic opportunity to tread those same boards.”

Bassist Gary Solomon is
“Looking forward to playing in front of a load of fellow metalheads!”.

Support for Warrior Soul also comes from London based heavy rockers Zodiac in Black, who have garnered praise from numerous music journalists, including Classic Rock magazine.

Fancy coming along on the 7th to support local music? Aonia is currently running a competition on their Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/aoniauk) to win tickets for the show – the competition ends Tuesday, 2/10/12 at 8pm.
